6 Things Proverbs Tells Us about Friends and Friendships
4 Comments
Hi followers,
I was having a conversation with my mom the other day. I told my mom I wasn't going to be friends with a girl that I know because she did something just a little mean. My mom replied, "How many times has God continued to not give up on you and be your friend when we constantly reject Him?" My mom was SO right! I was focusing on other's small flaws when I have big flaws myself. Whenever you feel tempted to not forgive another...remember how many times Jesus had forgiven you! Matthew 18:22 says: Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times [shall you forgive]. Sometimes, when we ask God to forgive us, we feel like our sin is too big for Him to forgive. We also continue to think about our sin after God has already forgiven us! When you don't trust that God can take of your sin and forgive it completely it's like saying, "God can't forgive my sin. I'm too wicked for God to forgive!" But that is just a lie!! Psalm 103:12 says: As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. His Grace is enough!!! In Christ, Lilly :) Hi followers,
I would like to start a little challenge for this weekend. Criticism is something that we deal with every day! It can be us getting the criticism or most of the time it's us giving the criticism. We do it more often than we think we do. What's the opposite of criticism?? I would have to say that the opposite is encouragement and blessing! James 5:9 says, Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. You may say that you’re not that critical or that you don't put people down but do you do the opposite?? Do you take time to bless, build up and say thank you?? Just analyze your heart, right now. Just think of all the times that you've felt criticism. Does it feel good?? No it does not! So when you're about to be critical…just think about how it hurts. Of course I don't mean that you cannot ever make judgments. But I DO MEAN that you cannot make harsh judgements or be unjustly critical! Sadly, I've been dealing with this a little bit. But also remember sometimes you just have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes you just have to let it go and say, "God, I don't understand why this is happening. I don't understand what you're doing. But I'm going to trust you anyway!" It's ok to not understand something, right now!! This can apply to school work, friendships and so much more! I personally am a critical person! I usually analyze everything and its details. Yes, we need to analyze things and have some critical thinking but we have to remember to be THANKFUL! It's a small word but means so much!! I know that just last month we put a day aside to be thankful and to thank God for his many blessings. So my challenge is this: Put this weekend aside to not say anything critical or put anyone down!! If you feel you would like even more of a push...be thankful…say thank you more...and instead of looking around at the things you don't like...be thankful for them. Take time to encourage your siblings and praise them. :) The bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I know that I've said a lot but I hope you got something out of it! Thanks for reading my post! Love, Lilly :) Hello followers,
Out of all the hard things to do...I would say that dying is the hardest! I don't mean physical dying but spiritual dying: saying no to one self and saying yes to God! Every day we have to die to ourself! It's a continuous struggle against the selfish desires of man! We have to put other's needs in front of ours! Every day we have to not only die to our needs and wants but have to say yes to God and his plan for us! The bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:31, "I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily." In Christ, Lilly :) Hi Followers, I wanted to put a little slide show together with quotes and verses about faith and trust. I personally have a hard time with fear, worry and trusting God to deal with my troubles. But I have to remember that worrying is a SIN and that worrying about something is like saying to God, "You can't handle this." The Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all you heart and no not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) I hope you all have a marvelous week! In Christ, Lilly :) |
